To migrate Azure AD Connect to a different server, you can follow these steps:
1.Install Azure AD Connect on the new server
Before you begin the migration, you need to install Azure AD Connect on the new server. Ensure that you install the same version of Azure AD Connect that you are currently running on the old server.
2.Export the configuration
Use the Azure AD Connect Export Configuration Wizard to export the configuration from the old server to a file. The wizard is located under the “Azure AD Connect” program in the Windows Start menu.
3.Copy the exported file to the new server
You can copy the exported file to the new server using a file-sharing mechanism such as a USB drive, network share, or cloud storage service.
4.Import the configuration
Use the Azure AD Connect Import Configuration Wizard to import the configuration file to the new server. The wizard is located under the “Azure AD Connect” program in the Windows Start menu.
5.Verify the configuration
Verify that the configuration on the new server is the same as the configuration on the old server. This includes verifying the list of connectors, synchronization rules, and filtering.
6.Update the Azure AD Connect account
You need to update the Azure AD Connect account to use the new server. You can do this by updating the “MsolServicePrincipal” account in Azure Active Directory.
7.Start the synchronization
Once you have verified the configuration and updated the Azure AD Connect account, start the synchronization on the new server.
Note: Before you begin, make sure that the new server has the required hardware and software specifications to run Azure AD Connect. Additionally, it's a good idea to backup your configuration, as well as your Active Directory, before making any changes.
